Corinita Reyes’ Digital Media Portfolio

Corinita Reyes

Oakland, CA

I am Corinita Reyes and I have been working professionally with digital media since 2018. I have worked within the music and mental health industries. I have been working doing marketing with my music project illexotic since 2018, I worked as a Digital Media Coordinator for Mental Health Association of San Francisco from 2024 - 2025 and I’m currently working as a Marketing Director for MalLabel Music since July 2025.

I have learned a lot from working within a mental health non-profit the past year or so. Working at a non-profit means you need to wear a lot of hats and meet a lot of deadlines with a smaller team. I have been adaptable and quick to meet deadlines and pivot depending on legislation and budgetary needs. Working in music has taught me about being very adaptable and doing what needs to be done to get a business running. Juggling the marketing needs to two different projects has taught me a lot about distinct branding and styles that speak to each separate brand.

I have worked with project management systems such as Asana, work with creative tools including Capcut, Finalcut pro, Ableton Live, Canva and earned a certificate in music production from Chabot College in 2017. I am a wizard with audio and can create impactful media utilizing whatever resources are available thanks to my strong creative muscle.

I love creating media because it is an impactful way of communicating with others. Some feel off-put by even just hearing the word “marketing” but I understand that marketing is simply effective communication. Hiring me would elevate your brand through consistently strong content creation. If there are any further skills that need developing, learning is easy. My work ethic is what makes me stand out along with my creativity, positive attitude, unique storytelling and strong writing skills. I bring a positive impact to creating for any entity who’s mission or product I believe in. If I don’t believe in it, I don’t apply for it.

A Highlight of My Work at Mental Health Association of San Francisco, March 2024 - Present

Project Angel Food Recap

For this project, I travelled to LA with my job to volunteer at a food kitchen and create content. This reel was made in order to showcase the work the organization does to connect with the community as well as to put the other organization Project Angel Food on to our followers as well. I was able to plan our a storyline, research about to program, create a shot list, fulfill said shot list and create an engaging video all while traveling last minute and working 3 volunteer shifts. The storyline, voice over, editing and copy for the post was all done by myself with oversight from my managers. It was rewarding and hard work.

Joy to The City Recap

For this project I attended a large event at The Chase Center in San Francisco on a Saturday in December 2024. I attended as the sole person in charge of media capture for my org. I created a storyline and shot list beforehand, which then evolved as I learned more about the event and experienced it firsthand while there. The storyline, voice over, editing and copy for the post was all done by myself with oversight from my managers.

Halloween Warm Line Song and Video

For this project, I took a karaoke track of The Ghostbusters theme song and wrote new lyrics. I created a shot list and directed the shots the day my co-workers and I met up in office to record it. I am probably most proud of this video because I was given a lot of creative freedom and had fun with my team. I think having fun is an important part of having a brand or organization’s values shine through. The music, singing, editing and copy for the post was all done by myself with oversight from my managers.

Black History Month Research Blog

This blog post was extremely difficult to research. There isn’t much recorded history about Black peer support, but there is no doubt a rich history about it. Doing research and finding reputable resources is a strength of mine as well as unearthing untold stories. I love exploring topics that have gone under the radar and using such information to communicate why certain ideas, holidays, and systems are important along with their impact on today.

Contracted Work with illexotic LLC

6 Minutes with Sally Zinman

I was contracted to create this video for Alameda County’s mental health program Peers Organizing Community Change (POCC). This was a very meaningful video to create as it was interviewing Sally Zinman, renowned peer movement leader and community member, about her life in the last months before her passing. I had to edit quickly for her lifetime achievement celebration and because on the 3rd and final day of filming she made a comment with a bit of humor in her voice “I hope you can edit the video quickly, I’d love to see it before I die” Some of the challenges with this video were that Sally was very ill towards the end of her life and she had trouble breathing and talking loudly. On top of her challenges with speaking and fatigue, due to her health we couldn’t leave her house for interviewing in a quiet setting. During filming there was a lot of ambient house noise going on in conjunction with her very soft voice. I was able to boost the voice and cut out the frequencies that the unwanted artifacts existed in. The 6 minute video was finished in time to show at Sally’s lifetime achievement celebration and she said I managed to take what was easily 4-8 hours of footage and summarize the points she wanted to communicate through the video in a concise manner.

POCC LEAD Housing Committee Video

illexotic LLC was contracted to create this video for the POCC LEAD Housing Committee. I directed, produced, edited and filmed this project. I took it on as the lead and delegated some of the technical setup of camera and sound during filming to my partner at illexotic LLC. It was recorded over the span of 4 different sessions and shaped by the committee members. We ensured that the voice of the entire group was infused into the final product and anyone who wanted to be on camera got the chance to be. Challenges included not everyone in the group having reliable transportation and the county building where we would usually have our gatherings and activities was closed due to shelter in place. We coordinated to find everyone rides to be filmed and we found alternate filming spaces at the Black Men Speak office in Oakland, CA. The project was finished in time to showcase at the LEAD conference in Sacramento, CA in June of 2023.

POCC Advocacy Song

I created this ear worm for the POCC as a theme song for their conferences and events. I focused on creating something catchy and easy to sing with simple production. The coolest thing about this song is in the final chorus, there are voices of the POCC members used. When I went to record them, many were nervous and said they are not musically inclined. I used not only my musical expertise but my expertise as a recording engineer to put them at ease and get them recorded with no judgement which lead to them leaving feeling proud of their contribution. What many engineers overlook is the social aspect of recording. Any technical skill can be learned but social skills of putting talent at ease and making them comfortable takes intuition, kindness and empathy. Not every vocal aligned or was in tune, but I was able to fix that in editing. It came out great and anyone who wanted to record got to. There are core members who have passed away in the past years since whose voices are immortalized in this community anthem. Something I appreciate about this song is the impact it has on the whole community at every gathering.

Independent Media Created With illexotic

Song React Sunday Video Series

This was a weekly video series created for illexotic LLC. It was a joint production between myself and my partner. We did reviews of songs from local musicians and we incorporated bigger name songs towards the end in order to gain more traction. We created our own rating system because we didn’t want to offend anyone whose music we were trying to put on. The ratings were creative and well received. This was earlier in my content creation journey and looking back, it should have been more concise and used more quick transitions, sound effects and more. The visual branding was well established by the end and we even had fans coming up to us in real life and telling us how much they liked our zany ratings. When reviewing the creative work of others, we found it most ethical to not judge, but rather react with sincerity and excitement for the sheer fact that others were being creative. I learned a lot about how reviews can be used to build community and brand through the production of this series.

Mental Health Monday Video Series

This was a weekly video series I would create for illexotic LLC. By the final video I had covered an array of mental health topics through the peer lense. In this video series I created the outlines, did additional research, created the intro, outro and thumbnail, recorded and edited the video and audio, added original music, generated the closed captioning and posted the videos to Youtube. I made edits of the long form content into shorter versions for IGTV which was the main video format for Instagram at the time. I also set up the lighting and we created a whole studio space with our illexotic branding in mind.

Fund the Community Fundraiser Event

For this event, I created the flyers in the carousel gallery. These were run on our social media up to a month before the event. We did not pay for ads and were still able to garner enough attention to get our fundraiser to exceed it’s goal.
